Landlord’s Handbook

Consumer Protection is offering a new ‘Landlords Pack’ on its website to provide a one stop shop for landlords seeking information.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Anne Driscoll said the Department of Commerce regularly received inquiries from landlords about their rights and responsibilities.

“The new website page includes publications, forms and other information to help landlords run their properties smoothly.”

“Consumer Protection has always offered good information for landlords on our website, but now the ‘Landlords Pack’ provides easier access,” she said.

The Commissioner said common queries included how to deal with breaches by tenants, such as not paying rent or not maintaining a house or garden.

“Consumer Protection is also asked for information on how to set up a tenancy, how to deal with abandoned goods, how to deal with a tenant who won’t vacate, and notification timeframes for breaches, inspections and terminations of tenancies,” Ms Driscoll said.

The new Landlords pack is available here.
