As a tenant, we have outlined the main things you need to know:
- The length of the lease is a minimum of six months to one year.
- The bond needs to be paid before moving in (the amount is on average the same as four weeks’ rent).
- Two weeks’ rent has to be paid in advance.
- A contract is signed – read carefully your contract carefully as everything that relates to your property will be specified in there (contract length, cleaning procedures etc).
- Make sure you visit the place and check everything that is stated on the contract before you sign it.
